Do's and Don'ts.

Instead of my my paper for my final in my world religions class I have spent the last two days reading every vice do and don't ever written, made pad thai, read some more Salinger, and continued to fruitlessly search for things to put on my christmas list.
I am so un-motivated to do things in school because the end of the semester is such a tease. I could be sipping orange juice on my couch while I watch useless television without any guilt, or I could do those things and know in the back of my mind that I really, really need to be doing my finals. Which is what I have been doing all day. Luckily I finally got down to work and wrote the paper for my world religions class, jesus.

So, instead of talking about the inevitability that is finals ON TO THE FASHION.

First on my "fashion agenda" for the evening is attractive, fashionable couples. Let's talk about these two. Two, current, NYU students who dress like I wish everyone I ever saw dressed. First her and the color of that coat with the little bow of the shirt peeking out and those shoes. THOSE FUCKING SHOES. Yes, yes, yes. Thnx Sartorialist for the picture of this gorgeous couple.

Also, I know that aa is the "was" brand but they have basics which everyone wants/needs/must have/where else are you going to get that long sleeved u-necked dress that just came out(?). So I am going to tell you about something that saved my christmas list from five items to twenty five it's called trendy blanks and sells wholesale aa. So, need some v-necks? They're cheap and I just got my package today and it's all real and aa quality (which I'm not sure is good or bad). BUT YOU HAVE TO CLICK THE LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGES THAT SAYS "SIGN UP FOR WHOLESALE PRICING."

Long Gone.

A little inspiration for finals week - and to make up for my absence.
I promise I'll be back to regular posting sometime within the next week.

Also, you really can't go wrong with Erin Featherson.

Since my root canal I've just been bumming around looking at Italian Vogue and making sets. So, I made a set based off of a spread I loved.

Structured Sweats

Okay. Okay. I love runway as much as everyone else, I do, but I cannot deal with this sweat suit thing. The idea that "structured sweats" are acceptable outerwear, thanks Alexander Wang, isn't real - is it?
Some things I do love?

I think we all recognize the Gucci boots, but has anyone seen these? Because they are wonderful. Though, I'm pretty sure I can diy them -- I found wholesale studs online for cheap. I guess we'll see.

A Little Fall Inspiration.

So -- my big inspiration for fall? OMG. Twenties style. Flapper style. Bonnie and Clyde. The Great Gatsby. The Dust Bowl.  So, I did something dumb and bought a ridiculous (but beautiful) hat that I can't wait to wear when the weather gets a little cooler, but at the rate things are going that will be next week.

TRAVEL SUGGESTIONS? I have two weeks free in January for travel, travel, travel. Right now all I know is that I'll be in Paris for a couple of days; so I need some suggestions on places to go, by train, while I'm in europe.

OneTwoThreeFour.

There has been an overabundance of good news the last couple of days; I'm moving home! My computer is back! I found the perfect black boots today (thrifted)! I can hear fiest from the other room!

Okay -- so, first of all since ichat is always a real pain in my ass no one has been able to see my new hair-cut. Since my macbook is back I will provide you with photobooth pictures.

In other, more depressing news, I lost all of my music when my hard drive crashed. So, if you have been listening to something great lately tell me about it? I have to re-download everything -- so give me suggestions.

Babies Dressed as Ladybugs.

Okay. After last nights very, very intense episode of project runway I have a couple of things to say
1) I, honestly, think Kenley should have been voted off before Joe. This is my honest truth. I feel like Kenley has a lot of talent, but just like everyone on the show says, for making 40's and 50's inspired dresses. And I love that style of dress, but let's be versatile.
2)LeAnne is a bad bitch, and I love everything she does.

Un-Employed.

So, after a beautiful (twenty hour) return to Chicago -- I am back.  Anyway, before I left I went thrifting with my granny and it was wonderful. Then the next day I went to an auction with my mom and got three vintage tins filled with vintage buttons and clip-on earring, plus two vintage hats and a pair of glasses. It was a successful venture.

So, I managed to snag all of these purses for 0.50 cents. I haven't taken off the leather patchwork one since I got it -- we were meant to be together.
I don't know why the focus is so bad in this picture? Anyway -- vintage clip-on earring turned broach for my interview with lush.
This is the whole interview outfit -- why is my mirror so dirty? Anyway, that's a sheer nightgown I cut down into a dress (!!!) the top is lace flowers; I am in love with this. It is truly perfect.
Other thrifting loot? A black high waisted pencil skirt (0.50) two belts (0.50) the perfect fanny-pack (0.50) and A VINTAGE TYPE WRITER IN IT'S CASE (5.00). Honestly, that type writer was my huge find -- I am so excited about it. I guess that's my prompt to start writing people letters again.

Good Night, Good Luck

Four days in.

On Monday I went to the community college that I'm taking classes at this semester to pick up books -- my outfit was pretty standard -- jean shorts, those opaque grey american apparel tights that everyone has, a white v-neck, a sweater, and my Cole Haan's. Damn standard.

I'm going to set this up for you; the college is located directly in the middle of four large corn fields and all the buildings are the same brick and all have large white roofs, the only building that doesn't look like this is the bookstore because it's actually an old garage. So, I go in and have to get a student i.d. made this ends up looking like an old Courtney Love mugshot (circa Hole) and then have to print off my book list, but forget how to log onto the online learning portal so they send me to the library. The guy in the baseball cap makes it sound sooooo easy, "It's the brick building with the roof that looks like a circus tent, you can't miss it." Yes. You can.
After walking around for fifteen minutes I finally ask a boy in wranglers and a cowboy hat where the library is -- he points to the building right behind me. I walk into the library with my expensive tail between my legs and run right into the most beautiful boy in buffalo plaid, and didn't even talk to him.

In other news: FASHION WEEK.

How fierce was Marc Jacobs rtw?

So. Much. Class.
